We have 2 x 5 ton MOT lifts for cars, vans (up to 3.5ton) & pick-ups, and with a 5m length each can accommodate even the longest of campers. We also have a dedicated motorbike test bay.
The MOT is mandatory, you must obtain a test before your expiry date. There is no 'grace' period. Vehicles can be driven to and from a test station if they have current tax and insurance, but not if they are deemed dangerous during the test. Retests for failed vehicles must be performed within 10 working days of the test, or the vehicle must be fully tested again.
The MOT test only inspects between 20-30% of the functional elements of the vehicle primarily concerned with safety and environmental impact (e.g. emissions).
To test on behalf of DVSA, we must adhere to strict testing guidelines using calibrated, approved equipment. Testers undergo annual training and assessment to ensure that the tests are as standardised and fair as possible, but individual human decision is still required to fully define the test results.
If you are unhappy with the results of a test and cannot resolve it with your test station, you can appeal to DVSA within 14 days of the test by completing the form at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/complain-about-an-mot
Please feel free to contact us with any questions that you have about your MOT.
